HISTORY OF SHERIGU CHURCH OF CHRIST

Sherigu church of Christ is located in the Bolgatanga Municipal of the Upper East Region of Ghana.

The church started with two (2) people. In the year 1999, two brothers were trolling from Sherigu to Bolgatanga church of Christ to worship with them.

In the year 2002, they stopped going to Bolga church. One brother, Roger Ayillah built two rooms in the market and gave one room for the church to worship.

A year later, missionaries and some brethren came down from Takoradi for public preaching. Lot of people were baptized and they were helped in diverse ways from food, clothing and health wise at a common market called Azanlonge where they worshipped.

Currently, the church has an average membership of around thirty (38) of which three (3) are men, twenty (20) are women, fifteen (15) are children.

The church has a permanent place of worship. A missionary by name Clifford from the United State of America with two (2) brothers, Enoch and Samuel from Kumasi came and built an auditorium for the church in the year 2004.

The average weekly giving of the church on Sundays is between GHC20.00 – GHC30.00.

Most of the youth have left for the cities to seek green pastures. This phenomenon of continuous migration of the youth to the cities is affecting the growth of the church.

My name is Isaac Ayamga, aged forty (40), and married with two (2) children. I am the preacher for Sherigu church of Christ since 2003.

The financial position of the church is very weak and therefore they are unable to support the preacher financially.  This is why I applied for support from RGM.

I have been on Rescue Ghana Mission (RGM) support for about three (3) years and I have been receiving monthly top-up allowance which supports me as I lead the church in such a poor and deprived community.

I appreciate the support I receive from the RGM monthly, without it things would have been very difficult for me and my family.

I will like to thank the managers of Rescue Ghana Mission for such this initiative and more especially to those who donate in cash and kind to support rural preachers like me.

God bless you.

God being so good,
